Skyfall Dominates The Weekend Box Office

As everyone expected, the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, dominated the box office this weekend, landing in North America after opening across the pond weeks earlier to some very impressive numbers. As of this weekend, the film had done $428 million internationally (becoming the biggest Bond in U.K. history) and now it can add $87.8 million to that total as it opened at number one at the U.S. box office. In case you're not keeping count, that puts Skyfall at a cool $518 million in 17 days.

As everyone expected, the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, dominated the box office this weekend, landing in North America after opening across the pond weeks earlier to some very impressive numbers.

As of this weekend, the film had done $428 million internationally, becoming the biggest Bond film in U.K. history. Now, it can add $87.8 million to that total as it opened at number one at the U.S. box office. In case you’re not keeping count, that puts Skyfall at a cool $518 million in 17 days. Those are some pretty impressive numbers and they put Skyfall on track to become the most successful James Bond film of all time, with both critics and audiences.

In other box office news (not that it really matters), Wreck-It Ralph is looking to pass $100 million domestically pretty soon, with its weekend take of $31.5 million pushing its domestic total to $92 million. Coming in behind Ralph was Paramount’s Flight, which continues to build awards buzz as it pulled in $15 million for a domestic total of $48 million.

Rounding out the top five are Argo and Taken 2. Now sitting at $86 million, Argo will no doubt pass Ben Affleck’s last film, The Town, and deservedly so. The Town was excellent but Argo is truly a superb film and one of my favorites from 2012. Then there’s Taken 2, a horrible, horrible movie that should have never been made. It now sits at $131 million and will likely pass the domestic total of its predecessor. I hope everyone’s excited for Taken 3.

That rounds out the top five but you can check out the full list below. Take a peek and let us know what you think.
