First Skyfall Trailer Has Landed

Bond is back. This morning we bring you the very first trailer for Skyfall, the 23rd film in the long running spy franchise. To be honest, it looks really impressive but doesn’t give much of the game away. The tone is very brooding, with a distinct air of mystery along with the usual Bond thrills and spills.

We are given quite a bit but at the same time, it’s also very little. This is what a proper teaser should do. We get locations, what look to be some major action set pieces and some inklings of how characters are going to develop, but very little in the way of plot spoilers.

Unlike the previous film, Quantum of Solace, the film’s title does seem to have some significance in the plot. In the beginning of the trailer we see a word association between an interrogator and Bond. The interrogator asks: “Skyfall” and an aggravated Bond replies: “Done.”

The film is directed by Sam Mendes and this is most definitely a departure from the filmmaker’s previous work. That being said, he looks to be doing a solid job. We know he can provide strong character and narrative but he looks to be bringing the action beats as well. It looks remarkably slick and this will fit comfortably within the Bond wheelhouse.

Alongside Mendes is one of the best Bond casts ever assembled, which this trailer shamefully doesn’t show off. Joining regulars Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, who reprise their roles as Bond and M, we have Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Javier Bardem, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw and Helen McCrory.

If line up that doesn’t get you excited then watch the trailer below and prepare yourself for the coming Fall.

Skyfall will be released in the UK on October 26th before hitting US shores on November 9th.
