In fact, today’s new arrivals are the latest in a long line of promo artwork for The Force Awakens, with previous info dumps spotlighting the villainous side of the Force along with a pair of Elite Stormtroppers. On the topic of the former, there was also news relating to two toys that revealed our first indication of what Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma – portrayed by Adam Driver and Game of Thrones standout Gwendoline Christie – sound like in the finished feature.

But the evil you know is better – or at least easier to rationale – than the one you don’t, and in terms of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s really Andy Serkis’ Supreme Leader Snoke that has been acting as the dark force behind the curtain. Bringing a character to life using only CGI – such is the Serkis way – there’s been nary a mention of the galactic menace in the trailers and teasers releases thus far.

What we do know is that he will be in control of Kylo Ren, an elite member of the Knights of Ren – an organization that holds Darth Vader up as a misunderstood martyr. Could the fallen titan really have a part to play in The Force Awakens?

All will be revealed when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18.
