Though we’d be hard-pressed to find any redeeming qualities about the SnyderVerse and the DCEU as a whole, some fans are convinced that James Gunn should leave well enough alone and abandon his planned reboot, and they will apparently stop at nothing to defame the filmmaker in the community.

You can’t really take Zack Snyder’s contributions to the DCEU seriously considering the history of abject mediocrity dogging his creative footmarks. Yes, there’s no denying that The Snyder Cut of Justice League was in way better shape than Joss Whedon’s nonsensical dungheap of an Avengers mimic, but even a 6-hour edition wouldn’t have been able to fix the fundamentally unappealing plot of that movie, or the fact that it had no build-up whatsoever in the context of DC’s interconnected cinematic universe.

And so, for some reason that continues to elude us, the relentless campaign for the SnyderVerse is still an ongoing dilemma in social media circles, with quite a few fans hell-bent on getting rid of James Gunn and reinstating their favorite director as the head of the DCU. Some are even going so far as to expose Gunn’s so-called “lies” in recent years.

The mere fact that this is getting traction on Twitter should tell you everything you need to know about this particular breed of Snyder stans.

It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly why it is that some DC fans hate James Gunn, especially given his impeccable track record in superhero cinema. Gunn has never experienced a flop, and all of his projects have received critical acclaim. Some might even argue that he is more in his element than someone like Kevin Feige, or that his promotion to the head of DCU is just the creative push the franchise needs to finally challenge the MCU after more than a decade.

But hey, this is not the first time the internet has left us completely baffled.
