Spare a thought for Sofia Boutella. This is, after all, the Kingsman breakout who is coming hot off Star Trek Beyond, a role that required a hefty amount of make-up work and prosthetics to transform her into the alien ally known as Jaylah.

Out of the frying pan and into the freezer, Boutella will soon headline Universal’s reboot of The Mummy as the title deity, and a host of set photos have emerged confirming that, yes, the actress will be sporting a rather unique costume.

Keep in mind that these snaps are taken long before director Alex Kurtzman and the team can enhance The Mummy’s ancient aura via CGI, but even still, there’s no question that the so-hot-right-now Boutella looks the part.

Championed as the action tentpole that will set Universal’s Monster Universe in motion, the casting docket for The Mummy currently encompasses Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, New Girl and Jurassic World star Jake Johnson, Marwan Kenzari, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde.

Universal will resurrect The Mummy in time for June 9, 2017.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
