Sofia Boutella Lends A Helping Hand In New Image For Star Trek Beyond

With roles in The Coldest City and Universal's The Mummy also cramming up the pipeline, it is this year's Star Trek Beyond that stands as Boutella's first bona fide summer blockbuster - and we can hardly wait. Set for launch in July, Empire has served up a new image featuring Boutella's friendly alien to sate our collective appetite, as she lends a helping hand to series stalwarts Spock and Bones - Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban, respectively.

Sofia Boutella may have featured across StreetDance 2 and sci-fi sequel Monsters: Dark Continent early on in her career, but it was really Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service that jump-started the actress’ meteoric rise to prominence.

Fast & Furious alum Justin Lin is at the helm for Star Trek Beyond, catapulting the USS Enterprise off to another deep space adventure that’s arriving in the year the decorated franchise reaches its 50th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, Paramount Pictures is expected to debut an all-new teaser for Beyond late next month, offering up what is surely one of, if not the final full-length trailer ahead of release.

Returning in the Enterprise’s cockpit are Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin – and, seemingly, two big-name cameos that remain a mystery at the time of writing – while Beyond also places Idris Elba in the shoes of towering baddie, Krall, who harbors a deep hatred of the Enterprise and everything the crew stands for.

Stat Trek Beyond is set to make its theatrical bow on July 22. Look for the threequel’s latest trailer to premiere at some stage next month, and we’ll have full coverage when it arrives right here on We Got This Covered.
