Beautiful New Solo Poster Teases Old Friends And New Faces
The rogues and outliers of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars universe come together for this beautiful, sun-kissed Solo poster. And we’re beginning to wish that Kathleen Kennedy and Co. had green-lit Lando: A Star Wars Story instead, where Donald Glover could potentially reprise his role as the ice-cool smuggler.
But that’s a conversation for another day – there’s a new Star Wars movie looming over the horizon, and just like Rogue One before it, it’s poised to take us back in time to explore the formative years that bent and molded Han Solo into shape. We are, of course, referring to Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Ron Howard-directed Anthology pic that’s just now beginning to emerge from a storied production, one in which Lucasfilm parted ways with erstwhile directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller due to creative differences.
It’s a creative changeover that occurred last summer, when many feared that Solo would be pushed back to December of 2018 – remember, Episode IX received a similarly lengthy delay soon after it was announced that J.J. Abrams was coming in to replace Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World 3) at the helm.
Fast forward to now, though, and Solo is so close we can almost feel the pulse energy radiating from Han’s famous blaster. It’s one that features quite prominently in this poster, too, which also draws attention to the old friends and new faces that make up Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Peer close enough and you’ll be able to spot Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) and Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), while there’s also room for Val and Qi’ra, the gun-toting duo to be played by Thandie Newton and Emilia Clarke.
Suffice it to say, this is another A-list cast that Lucasfilm has assembled, and we’ll be able to see the studio’s lawless rogues hit the silver screen when Solo: A Star Wars Story opens big on May 25th.
