Han’s Famous Gold Dice Spotted In The Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer

Did you catch the nod to Han's famous gold dice in the first teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story? Don't worry, we've got you covered.

There’s a moment in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, just before the Resistance flee from the mineral planet of Crait, when Luke Skywalker offers some closure to the grieving Leia Organa by parting ways with a pair of gold dice – or, at least, a projection of gold dice.

They once belonged to Harrison Ford’s wise-cracking Han Solo, who was last seen plummeting into the misty depths of Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens. But according to the film’s Visual Dictionary, Han’s gilded dice were “used in the ‘Corellian Spike’ game of sabacc in which he [Han] won the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian.”

It’s a small, yet crucial moment in Star Wars history, and it’ll seemingly play out on the big screen when Solo: A Star Wars Story beams into theaters later this year. How do we know? Well, the Internet has already run a fine-tooth comb over Solo‘s inaugural teaser, uncovering a whole bunch of character clues and breathtaking shots of the Imperial fleet. However, buried in that footage is a cute nod to Han’s dice, which can be seen dangling in the vehicle he’s piloting alongside Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke).

It’s not so much an Easter egg as it is a welcome nod to Han’s legacy, which all began when Alden Ehrenreich’s nerf-herder was pulling scams and other sneaky stunts on the streets when he was only 10-years-old. He’s the galaxy’s greatest scoundrel, after all, and it won’t be too long before he’s back on our screens once more.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be with us on May 25th. And if it’s more coverage you’re after, look no further than our thorough breakdown of this morning’s full teaser trailer.
