Some of the MCU’s worst CGI is finally facing judgement among the Marvel community

Fans cannot get over just how bad this CGI character was.

It’s no secret that fans have become increasingly frustrated at the use of CGI in Marvel movies as of late. Despite the fact that Marvel – and its parent company Disney – are among the biggest media companies in the world with extensive budgets, it would appear that they are happy to send out shoddy CGI work in their final products.

CGI is almost always going to play a part in superhero films, suits of armor flying through the air, magic being bandied about, or a teenage boy in spandex swinging through cities, none of which is grounded in any form of reality, because there are only so many stunts person can do. However, if you do need to use it, you should use it judiciously and not see it as a blanket solution for everything.

With Marvel’s VFX artists reported having been pushed to the absolute limit with their work in order to make deadlines, the results have been less than resplendent and have resulted in many audience members feeling like they have been jolted out of the story because of it. Notable mentions also include Doctor Strange’s third eye, which appears in the Multiverse of Madness mid-credits scene and looked like it had been created by a 15-year-old kid with access to Photoshop.

Now fans are sharing one of the biggest digital fails in the hope that their anger will result in some changes made by the studio. That being said, they’ve been complaining for some time now and we are still getting some janky special effects, so let’s not hold our breath.

The character looked like he had come out of a video game from the early ’00s, and many people pointed out just how insanely bad he looked.

Though some say the crime wasn’t that bad considering he was just an end-credits scene, what was bad was the messing up of a major battle scene in one of the MCU’s biggest movies.

One user pointed out how little time VFX artists were given to actually work on it, so no wonder it wasn’t fantastic.

Many believe that if we complain long enough, perhaps Marvel will actually take it into account and actually allow VFX artists to shine, rather than forcing them to compromise their art to reach near-impossible deadlines.

This user also remembers just how bad Thanos originally looked when we got our first glimpse of him, and they fleshed him out more later.

Perhaps this will be the same fate for Pip if he returns in Eternals 2.

With Marvel constantly heading into new and fantastical realities, such as the Quantum Realm in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and the farthest reaches of outer space in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, CGI is not going to leave anytime soon. But, with Phase Five potentially slowing down to address some concerns, fans might actually get what they’ve been demanding for so long.
