Sony May Have Found Its Peter Rabbit In James Corden

With a modern interpretation of the classic Beatrix Potter tales of Peter Rabbit in development, Sony may have found its vocal lead in British talk show host James Corden. The film will be another hybrid of live-action and CG, and will be directed by Will Gluck (Annie). The filmmaker has also been giving the script a bit of a brush-up, based on an initial draft by Rob Lieber (Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day).

Peter Rabbit is a tale of classic literature that follows the titular animal in his mischievous exploits around the land on which his family lives. His times are framed by his long-running feud with local resident Mr. McGregor, in whose vegetable patch Peter and his siblings can often be found frolicking, sleeping, and nibbling. The conflict and rivalry between Peter and Mr McGregor will be the central theme of the film, and it is one that suits James Corden perfectly.

The premise requires a live-action action cast, though, and Rose Byrne is in talks to join that side of the Peter Rabbit proceedings. It is not entirely clear which character she would play, but hopefully it would be something more substantial than Mrs. McGregor.
