Just over a year ago, Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters and promised a new era for Tom Holland’s Spidey. In the closing moments of the movie, we saw Peter Parker striking out on his own in Manhattan and taking a back-to-basics approach to crime fighting without Stark tech. Now, if the rumor mill is to be believed, work on Spider-Man 4 is set to begin very soon.
We have no idea what the source is for this so take it with a pinch of salt, but here’s the rumor:
There’s a bunch of speculation about what the MCU Spider-Man will be doing next, though fans seem convinced that it’ll be a team-up with Daredevil as the pair take on Kingpin as he attempts yet another takeover of New York City. If that proves to be the case, it’ll likely develop out of the plot of Daredevil: Born Again when it airs on Disney Plus in early 2024.
Perhaps it’s too far out to believe any firm stories saying they’ve identified the plot. Despite that, we can be fairly sure that Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned won’t be a major part of the story, with both having no memory of Peter Parker and currently studying at MIT together.
Other fans are hoping for the Hobgoblin:
Venom (perhaps Tom Hardy flavor?):
Or maybe Scorpion:
We may also get the MCU debut of Miles Morales, who had already been mentioned by name in the MCU in a deleted scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming. No Way Home‘s position as the sixth highest-grossing movie ever is about to be dethroned by Avatar: The Way of Water, and we’re thinking neither Sony nor Marvel Studios are about to let theaters go without a lucrative web-slinging adventure for too long.
Let’s wait to see whether this rumor bears fruit.
