Spider-Man: Far From Home Actor May’ve Confirmed Maria Hill For The Film

A couple of weeks ago, Samuel L. Jackson took to Instagram with a post that strongly hinted at the return of Nick Fury and his trademark eyepatch for next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. Now, we have good reason to believe that he'll be joined by one of his closest S.H.I.E.L.D. associates.

A couple of weeks ago, Samuel L. Jackson took to Instagram with a post that strongly hinted at the return of Nick Fury and his trademark eyepatch for next year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. Now, we have good reason to believe that he’ll be joined by one of his closest S.H.I.E.L.D. associates.

Though the role of Numan Acar in the upcoming flick is still unknown (rumors say he’s playing Chameleon), the actor captioned a selfie on Instagram with a list of hashtags that included the names of several other talents and their corresponding characters in the film. Among those listed were Cobie Smulders and Maria Hill, along with Jake Gyllenhaal and Mysterio, providing further confirmation that the star will be playing the part of Peter Parker’s next villain.

But while we’ve more or less been taking Gyllenhaal’s involvement as fact already, what’s more interesting is the mention of Smulders and her onscreen alter ego Maria Hill. That Acar has since removed this text from his post – suggesting some intervention on Marvel’s part – only makes this signaling of the character’s return seem all the more legit. If so, it’s a pleasant change of pace to see an accidental spoiler from a Spider-Man actor who isn’t Tom Holland.

Of course, former S.H.I.E.L.D. deputy director Maria Hill was with Nick Fury in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War, in which the two of them were turned to dust as a result of Thanos’ finger snap. But given how many heroes in that movie suffered the same fate only to be scheduled for appearances in later releases, there’s no reason why Maria can’t re-materialize for another film, where she, Nick and Peter can possibly reminisce about the experience of being turned into tiny particles.

But before Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5th, 2019, we’ll first see how the rest of the team get out of their grim current states in Avengers 4, which will arrive on May 3rd of the same year.
