Though Peter Parker and Quentin Beck have been known to clash in the comics, Tom Holland has insisted that the pair are “brothers in arms” as the two of them work together to fight Elementals. And speaking of Spidey’s onscreen friends, Ned Leeds actor Jacob Batalon teased this unlikely relationship in a recent convention appearance, saying:

“It’s basically just about the kids going on a European vacation. We go to London, we go to Prague, we go everywhere. It’s just a really fun thing. There’s a lot of dynamics that go on. A lot of relationship stuff. A lot of cool funny stuff. A lot of fun stunt stuff. The main focus is for him not to be Spider-Man per se, but he gets dragged into it. But you know he reluctantly saves the world again with Mysterio. Mysterio’s a good guy in this, they’re both teaming up to kill the game, to defeat these Elemental monsters.”

Apparently Nick Fury will be the one to drag Peter back into the action during his European vacation, with Gyllenhaal suggesting at this month’s CCXP in Brazil that Mysterio’s understanding of the Elementals could be crucial for taking them out.

“Well there are these threats to the world, the Elemental creatures, and Mysterio is someone who knows about them and who wants to make sure that the world is safe from them, and Nick Fury asks him to come on and help because he’s the only one who really understands them in a way. And he teams up with the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and unfortunately, he has to make him become more than just a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.”

Quentin might have some important knowledge on these Elemental creatures, but most of us are still have much to learn what they are, where they came from, why they pose such a threat, and why Nick Fury picked the teenage Peter to handle the job. As for Quentin, though he may start off this movie as a good guy, you can expect the character to take a turn for the villainous sooner or later, but until then, the combined powers of Mysterio and Spider-Man could make for a dazzling combination.

In any case, while it’s unclear when exactly we’ll be getting our first official footage from Spider-Man: Far From Home, the film itself is set for release on July 5th, 2019.
