Though his fate is still up in the air thanks to Avengers: Infinity War, we’re now hearing that Peter Parker will be sporting a new suit for Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 as the Web-Head adjusts to adulthood.
Word comes by way of IndiaWest (h/t ComicBook.com), who spoke to Marvel costume designer Louise Frogley about her latest MCU gig, Ant-Man and the Wasp. It wasn’t long before the conversation veered toward Phase 4 though and Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, in particular, at which point Frogley hinted that the costumes of Jon Watts’ Spidey sequel will be totally different from previous incarnations, as Peter Parker begins to make his transition from teenager to man.
I am not actually working on that film [Spider-Man: Homecoming 2], but the costumes will have very big changes because, in the film, Spider-Man becomes more like a man and not a teenager.
Frogley is no stranger to Spider-Man, of course, having worked on the Web-Head multiple times before – most recently on the first Homecoming movie – and here, she recalls the technical hurdles involved in bringing Peter Parker’s alter-ego to the big screen.
Via IndiaWest:
Technically, it was very difficult because we were trying to get back to the earlier years and it was hard to create. We had to get the scale absolutely right, and we did a lot of camera testing to visualize the final product. We did close to ten tests before we finally go it right and it was very important to get the technical elements of it right. Marvel (production house Marvel Studios) was really good in content for the testing.
As things stand, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is expected to lens all summer ahead of its release on July 5th, by which point we should have a better understanding of how Marvel plans to continue the MCU in a post-Avengers 4 world.
