Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Will Feature A Stan Lee Cameo

It's been confirmed that Sony's upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will feature a cameo from the late, great Stan Lee.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is still roughly a month away, but the more we see from it and learn about what’s in store, the more excited we get. And now, it seems there’s yet another reason to be looking forward to the next big screen outing for everyone’s favorite web-slinger.

But first, if you’re unfamiliar with the movie, it focuses on 13-year-old rookie Spider-Man Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he’s mentored in the finer arts of Spider-manning by the slightly disheveled looking Peter Parker. If you’ve seen any of the trailers that’ve been released so far, which we imagine you have, you’ll know that this looks to be a witty, fast-paced adventure with an animation style that’s simply gorgeous.

Beyond all that, though, audiences can also look forward to seeing one of Stan Lee’s final cameos in the film. The comic book legend passed away earlier this week, but from what we understand, had already shot a few of his famous cameos. One of them was for Avengers 4 and now, we can confirm that another was for Into the Spider-Verse, with producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller revealing the following:

When we came in, we thought we were going to pitch him ideas, but he ended up pitching us no less than seven ideas in a 45-minute meeting. That’s just the kind of guy he was — an idea machine. He seemed to be a man to whom creation was as automatic as breathing. We were lucky to have him adorn our movie [Spider- Man: Into the Spider-Verse, opening Dec. 14] with his voice [cameo].

Of course, the last time we saw Stan in a Marvel movie was last month in Venomwhere he showed up as a kindly passer-by who seemed to know that Eddie Brock was harboring a secret symbiote. Like we mentioned above, he’s been confirmed to have already filmed his cameo for 2019’s Avengers 4, and we imagine his roles for Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home are in the can, too. And now, we can add Into the Spider-Verse to the list as well.

Details on what this upcoming cameo will involve still remain under wraps, of course, but regardless of what Sony has lined up for Stan Lee, the eye-popping animation just might be reason enough to check out Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse when it swings into theaters on December 14th.
