Radcliffe may have graduated from his much-loved Harry Potter role, but the boy wizard hasn’t strayed too far from genre films. As his first “grown up” movie role, I’m interested to see what he’ll bring to the table in this horror pic. His character is a lawyer with a young son who encounters a vengeance-seeking ghost in The Woman In Black.

Based on a novel by Susan Hill, The Woman in Black is adapted for the screen by scribe Jane Goodman (Kick Ass, X-Men: First Class). That’s a great pedigree, so I can only hope that the assumed quality of Goodman’s script is enhanced by Radcliffe’s performance instead of the opposite.

Check out the official synopsis below and the movie trailer; what do you think?

Based on the classic ghost story, The Woman in Black tells the tale of Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), a lawyer who is forced to leave his young son and travel to a remote village to attend to the affairs of the recently deceased owner of Eel Marsh House.

Working alone in the old mansion, Kipps begins to uncover the town’s tragic and tortured secrets and his fears escalate when he discovers that local children have been dying under mysterious circumstances. When those closest to him become threatened by the vengeful woman in black, Kipps must find a way to break the cycle of terror.
