First Look At Star Trek 2 Set Photos And Video

Star Trek 2 isn't set to hit theaters for over a year, but photos and videos from the set have already been released. This comes as a huge treat for fans that have been waiting almost three years for another taste of the reboot. Understandably, director J.J. Abrams put the sequel on hold until a script worthy of the epic franchise could be developed, but impatient fans now have something to muse over while they wait the next year out.

Star Trek 2 isn’t set to hit theaters for over a year, but photos and videos from the set have already been released. This comes as a huge treat for fans that have been waiting almost three years for another taste of the reboot. Understandably, director J.J. Abrams put the sequel on hold until a script worthy of the epic franchise could be developed, but impatient fans now have something to muse over while they wait the next year out.

The film will bring back the cast from 2009 and also add a few new faces. Starring in the highly anticipated film are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, John Cho, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The new photos give fans of 3D something to gush over. From the photos below, it looks like the film will indeed be shooting in IMAX. This, along with Abrams previously mentioning the possibility of it and his production company Bad Robot converting his recent Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol into 3D in post-production, ups the odds. The photos show scenes using plenty of green screen and a definite IMAX rig.

On top of all this visual goodness, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban wish 2000 AD Comics a ‘Happy 35th Birthday’ in a video posted on TrekMovie that might give away more than it meant to. Pegg and Urban are both wearing jackets to cover up their costumes but a blue uniform is peeking out of Urban’s. Hmmm.

Check it out for yourself!
