Stacy Keach Turns Villainous In Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

We’re all getting very excited for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Who wouldn’t be, with a cast like this? We’ve got the return of Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Jamie King, and new comers Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, and Ray Liotta, to name just a few. Now the Sin City sequel has picked up another villain in the form of Stacy Keach.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is plotted pretty much the same as the original Sin City, with intertwining storylines and plot threads. Keach will be crime boss Wallenquist, the nastiest man in a city full of nasty people. The creator of the original comic book Frank Miller has called him “the one man who can’t be redeemed in Sin City.” Given that Sin City has been occupied by cannibals and spoiled sadists, that’s a pretty heavy statement.  Keach’s character will feature in the title story, along with Josh Brolin as Dwight (taking over from Clive Owen from the original) and Eva Green as Ava Lord.

Keach has noir credentials too; he was hard-boiled detective Mike Hammer in the TV series Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, and has cropped up as heavies in films like The Bourne Legacy, and Machete. Not to mention being one hell of a good actor, hard-boiled or not.  Oh, and he did a voice on Rugrats. You have to be a badass to be on Rugrats.

Sin City has long been one of my guilty pleasures. The rough, noirish tone, the nods to the great hard-boiled thrillers of yesteryear, and the sheer indulgence of badness – all too much fun to pass up. With this cast – which is pretty damned impressive – and true badass Keach on board as one of the villains, I will definitely be in the front row come October 4.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For hits theatres October 4, 2013. Let us know what you think about Keach’s casting in the comments below.
