Captain America and Iron Man are two of Marvel’s most popular superheroes, so there’s no way they’re going to turn either one of them into a villain in next year’s Captain America: Civil War (though seeing Iron Man portrayed as the big bad of Phase 3 would certainly be pretty good fun).
Thanks to the D23 footage and some leaked promo art, we know that Agent 13, Ant-Man, Bucky, Falcon and Hawkeye will team with Captain America, while Iron Man will be backed up by Black Panther, Black Widow, The Vision, War Machine and possibly Spider-Man (according to one rumour).
[zergpaid]There are fan-favourite heroes on both of those teams, and audiences will no doubt be split in deciding who to side with. But who is Stan “The Man” Lee choosing in Captain America: Civil War?
“Whatever side Captain America was on, because he’s the best, pure-hearted person in the whole world. By the way, he’s a great actor, too, the guy who plays Captain America does a beautiful job — Chris Evans. I say that because he likes me, and anyone who likes me is a great actor!”
It’s interesting that Lee would choose a hero he didn’t actually create, though he is arguably responsible for creating the version used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As for who audiences will choose, I suppose we’ll have to wait until Captain America: Civil War hits theatres on May 6th, 2016 to find out.
