New Star Wars: Episode IX Rumor Teases A Connection To An Old Villain

After Star Wars: The Last Jedi brought the saga in a divisive new direction, many of the rumors and theories that have emerged around the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX have suggested a work that’s more in line with what many fans would traditionally expect from a film in this franchise. And while this pattern often serves as a strong indication that these reports are likely little more than wishful thinking, there's also a distinct possibility that Disney are hoping to win back a few disgruntled viewers with this next movie.

After Star Wars: The Last Jedi brought the saga in a divisive new direction, many of the rumors and theories that have emerged around the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX have suggested a work that’s more in line with what many fans would traditionally expect from a film in this franchise. That being said, we’re getting definite fan fiction vibes from this latest scene leak that’s being circulated online. The sequence reported by Express is alleged to feature Rey inside a stone hut, much like the one we saw on Ahch-To. She’s apparently going through the belongings of Luke Skywalker while dressed in black – perhaps in mourning for the fallen Jedi. Among these possessions, she finds a journal titled “The Science of Creating Life,” and looking through this book, she sees such headings as “The Philosophy of Life” and “Transcending Death.” Rey then shuts the journal and takes it with her.

There are quite a few reasons why this one seems hard to buy, not least that it suggests connections to Darth Plagueis – a character that a certain segment of the fanbase seems to really want to be in these movies. Add to that how this scene appears to be hinting at Luke possibly coming back from the grave, and this report reads like it was tailor-made for people who didn’t like The Last Jedi.

But as unlikely as this rumor sounds, there’s always a chance that Star Wars: Episode IX will surprise us all while winning back the new trilogy’s detractors when it hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
