In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Luke Skywalker reluctantly agrees to offer his new apprentice Rey just three lessons, and while the movie revealed two of these nuggets of wisdom, it ultimately left us hanging on the third. But with Mark Hamill scheduled to return for Star Wars: Episode IX, we surely can’t rule out his Force Ghost still having some knowledge to share, and a recent rumor has led to some speculation that next year’s release could be the time for Luke to finally drop lesson number three.
According to an alleged leak, one scene from J.J. Abrams’ upcoming film will see Rey encounter the late Skywalker in a jungle world, and to this unverified report’s credit, the movie may well have a location like that in store. Apparently, the pair are conversing on some stone steps that lead up to what looks like a Jedi Temple.
What’s more, as Luke holds the hilt of his unignited lightsaber, the character is dressed in a brown robe and white sleeves while looking a little more solid than your traditional Force Ghost, as if he still has a physical presence of sorts.
This is just the latest in an insane numbers of reports surrounding Luke’s role in the upcoming film, and the fact that Hamill pops up so frequently in these leaks is almost certainly a case of fan-pandering from the rumor mill, rather than any sort of indication of the amount of screen time he’ll be getting in next year’s release.
All the same, even if this report does turn out to be yet another case of a fraudulent leak telling fans what they want to hear, don’t be a surprised if the late Luke still has a lesson or two planned for Rey when Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
