Star Wars: Episode IX Rumor Teases Rey’s Lightsaber, Kylo Ren’s New Outfit And More

The upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX looks to be juggling a vast array of characters – from old familiars like Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian, to newcomers played by the likes of Keri Russell and Richard E. Grant – but the emotional core of J.J. Abrams’ trilogy-closer will almost certainly be Rey and Kylo, as the pair complete their parallel arcs on either side of the Force.

But while we still haven’t seen so much as a set pic of either character, a new report on Reddit alleges a few details on how these two might look in next year’s release. User PlanetOfMisfitSoldrs claims to work in design, and their job involves “Things like posters, merchandise boxes, branding.” In this position, the leaker has supposedly seen promo images featuring Rey sporting a variety of new hairstyles and in a costume that has been described as “very knightly.” Her lightsaber, on the other hand, is said to be the same one that broke in The Last Jedi, only with some modifications that earn comparisons to Kylo’s crossguard design.

And speaking of Kylo, the villain is said to be looking more evil than ever in his “very regal” outfit with “silver trimmings,” and is allegedly clean-shaven with hair that goes straight back and out of his face. As for those recent rumors that the character’s helmet will be making a return, PlanetOfMisfitSoldrs says that they’ve yet to see Kylo wearing his old mask, but images do show some red and black stormtroopers with similar headwear – a claim which perhaps ties in with previous reports of the Knights of Ren making a return.

Obviously this leak should be taken as the hearsay it is, but we’ll find out if there’s any truth to the claims when Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
