Harrison Ford Hospitalized For Ankle Injury On The Set Of Star Wars: Episode VII

Don't panic, but Harrison Ford has been "rushed" to a hospital following an ankle injury sustained on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Honestly, something like this happening isn't completely unexpected, considering Ford is now 71 years old and is likely doing a lot of physical work for the new film. This isn't a George Lucas production after all, meaning the actors aren't just slowly walking around, sitting down, and talking to each other for extended periods of time like they did throughout the prequel trilogy.

Don’t panic, but Harrison Ford has been “rushed” to a hospital following an ankle injury sustained on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Honestly, something like this happening isn’t completely unexpected, considering Ford is now 71 years old and is likely doing a lot of physical work for the new film. This isn’t a George Lucas production after all, meaning the actors aren’t just slowly walking around, sitting down and talking to each other for extended periods of time like they did throughout the prequel trilogy.

At this time there’s not much more here to report, but Disney assures us in an official statement that filming will continue as planned:

“Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injuring during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

So, if you read the headline and thought, “I have a bad feeling about this,” don’t worry. Injuries like this happen on big movies all the time, so this really isn’t a call for alarm.

Star Wars: Episode VII is currently filming in Abu Dhabi. Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film features returning stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. They are joined by a new cast that includes John Boyega, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. Despite this minor setback, the film will still arrive in a galaxy near you on December 18th, 2015.
