You may remember a rumor (started by Simon Pegg, no less) doing the rounds a few months back regarding Spectre star Daniel Craig making a cameo as a Stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. At the time though, the actor denied it down to the ground, saying the following:

Why would I ever bother doing something like that?F—ing hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie.

Well, it seems that’s exactly what he did – though his role did amount to slightly more than an extra, and he also got a few lines in. This is where we enter SPOILER territory though, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, it’s probably best not to read any further.

Still with us? Ok, good.

If you recall, at one point during the film, Kylo Ren captures Rey and brings her aboard his ship for questioning. Unbeknownst to him, the Jakku scavenger has become aware that she’s force-sensitive and manages to use the ol’ Jedi mind trick on one of the Stormtroopers guarding her cell. After a few attempts, she gets him to “remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open.” Turns out that First Order goon was none other than James Bond himself, Daniel Craig.

Thinking back, I can’t really recall his voice, but apparently it was somewhat recognizable as Craig’s – so if you see the movie again (and let’s face it, you will) be sure to listen for it and let us know if it sounds familiar.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens starts its wide release tomorrow, December 18th. For our thoughts on the film, check out our glowing review.
