Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Will Land Online This Friday

The mania surrounding next year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens is reaching dizzying heights of madness. Not since The Phantom Menace trailer bowed in 1998 has the web been struck by such a hankering for detail. To keep interest in the sequel sustained, Disney have launched a trailer campaign that's never been attempted before: this Thursday through Sunday, a select group of theatres across the U.S. will debut the 88-second teaser. A pretty low number, right? Well, most of us kind of expected to see a blurry bootleg online in the early hours of Friday. Now, thanks to the Official Star Wars Twitter, it seems that won't be necessary.

The mania surrounding next year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens is reaching dizzying heights of madness. Not since The Phantom Menace trailer bowed in 1998 has the web been struck by such a hankering for detail. To keep interest in the sequel sustained, Disney have launched a trailer campaign that’s never been attempted before: this Thursday through Sunday, a select group of theatres across the U.S. will debut the 88-second teaser. A pretty low number, right? Well, most of us kind of expected to see a blurry bootleg online in the early hours of Friday. Now, thanks to the Official Star Wars Twitter, it seems that won’t be necessary:

That sound you might be hearing right now is the cheer of countless sci-fi fans the world over. The exciting plan Disney unveiled for the trailer was initially met with frustration by many, who would be unable to reach one of the cinemas in those thirty chosen cities.

That news arrived earlier this week, as AMC and Regal Theatres – to name but two – revealed that they would be taking part. Starting Friday morning through to Sunday night, every showing of every movie in those specific multiplexes will be showing the trailer. If that sounds more to your liking, and you’d prefer to witness the first ever teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the big screen, then check out the full list of cinemas below. The rest of us will be clicking through to iTunes.
