Star Wars: The Last Jedi Digital Release Dated For March

The Last Jedi is beginning to cast a shadow over Blu-ray and DVD.

According to a leaked iTunes listing, Rian Johnson’s spectacular sequel will launch via Digital HD on March 14th, lending Star Wars enthusiasts ample time to revisit the Skywalker Saga before the arrival of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Should this alleged due date hold true, it also indicates that The Last Jedi‘s Blu-ray release can’t be too far off.

Indeed, if I was a betting man, standing amidst the crowd of Canto Bight, I’d wager that Lucasfilm has earmarked early April as a potential launch date. Why, you ask? Because The Force Awakens and Rogue One – two Star Wars movies that also released in December – hit home video on April 5th and April 4th, respectively, while March is also set to herald Blu-rays for both Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok, the comic book blockbusters of November, 2017.

As for what this Blu-ray launch entails, exactly, a Carrie Fisher tribute is surely a shoo-in, while there’s also a good chance that Rian Johnson and his team will commemorate the life and legacy of Luke Skywalker, who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that the Resistance could escape Crait with their lives intact.

Failing that, Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s home video launch will shed light on Luke’s third and final lesson, which was deemed to be too solemn – too contentious – for the theatrical version. Just don’t hold your breath for a director’s cut.
