Of course, we now know that such chatter was based on little more than speculation, but if a recent report from Making Star Wars is anything to go by, then Russell’s actual character, Zorri Bliss, may still have an important connection to the franchise’s most famous Jedi.

In a recent episode of the MSW podcast, word was relayed that Russell filmed a scene opposite Mark Hamill last August. What’s more, it’s said that the scene was set on Kijimi, the same snowy planet that featured in the Rise of Skywalker stills released earlier this year.

Though none of this has been officially confirmed yet, Making Star Wars certainly has a better track record than most when it comes to this kind of intel, and the report has already led to a few theories on the nature of Zorri and Luke’s meeting. One possibility, for instance, is that Luke is appearing as a Force Ghost, suggesting that Zorri may actually be Force sensitive.

Alternatively, the scene could instead be a flashback, which would imply that Zorri was a key figure in Luke’s later years. Some fans have even gone as far as to speculate that Zorri is actually Luke’s daughter, though you might want to put a pin in that theory until further evidence emerges. Regardless, all will be revealed when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th.
