During a recent interview with MTV News, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy was asked if we’d ever again get to see Rey, Poe, or Finn up on the big screen. Though vague, Kennedy hinted that plans are in order for certain characters to return sometime in the near future.

“You know, there is an appropriate time. We’re using this appropriate time as an opportunity to see where we’re going now that we’re leaving the Skywalker Saga behind. But there’s no question that there are certain characters that we’ve created certainly in the last three movies that we may very well want to see down the line in the future.”

Lucasfilm is already planning out the next ten years of Star Wars movies, with The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss all helming Star Wars films at various stages of pre-production. With that in mind, who’s to say there wouldn’t be room for Kylo Ren or BB-8 to pop into one for a quick cameo?

With the debut of Disney Plus right around the corner, Disney is also obviously interested in churning out more and more IP-based streaming series. In the same interview, Kennedy teased a wide array of possible follow-ups to Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian.

“We have huge opportunities with Disney Plus now to be able to look at that space and find perhaps even smaller stories, grittier stories,” she said.

So, even if Poe Dameron doesn’t survive to see the fall of the First Order, the upcoming Disney Plus shows centered around the doomed Cassian Andor proves that Lucasfilm isn’t opposed to playing with the timeline. After all, like the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer promises, “No one’s ever really gone.”
