Star Wars: The Force Awakens Image Unveils Brand New Character

Meet Constable Zuvio, the little-known "vigilant law officer" of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He may not attract the attention of, say, Daisy Ridley's Rey or Adam Driver's manic Kylo Ren, nor is it likely that he'll feature on the film's character posters anytime soon, though the "tough and humorless” alien patrolman is still a fundamental part of the universe that J.J. Abrams is creating, and thanks to Empire - the magazine, that is - we've now got our best look at Zuvio to date.

Meet Constable Zuvio, the little-known “vigilant law officer” of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He may not attract the attention of, say, Daisy Ridley’s Rey or Adam Driver’s manic Kylo Ren, nor is it likely that he’ll feature on the film’s character posters anytime soon, but the “tough and humorless” alien patrolman is still a fundamental part of the universe that J.J. Abrams is creating, and thanks to Empire – the magazine, that is – we’ve now got our best look at Zuvio to date.

Featured in some previously leaked images for The Force Awakens, it would appear that Constable Zuvio’s base of operations is the desert planet of Jakku, home to our scavenger and newfound protagonist Rey, along with the remnants of the galaxy-shaking battle that came to a head during Return of the Jedi.

Based on the fleeting character description for the stern extra-terrestrial, who is said to “keep order in a frontier trading post on a mostly lawless world,” we assume that Zuvio won’t feature too much in the final cut of Star Wars: The Force Awakensclocking in at a neat 2 hours and 15 minutes – though peppering the story with a host of interesting side characters is part of the reason Star Wars is so loved in the first place. Think Admiral Ackbar, Greedo or even Jabba the Hutt.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is due to hit theaters on December 18. In the interim, you can feast your eyes on the first official image of Constable Zuvio in anticipation of the film’s release.
