Even by its own lofty standards, it’s been a busy, busy day in The Last Jedi camp.
Not only are Star Wars fans still reeling from Force Friday II, but Rian Johnson’s sequel was recently announced as the cover star of Empire’s October issue, bringing with it a shimmering, holographic cover image and an up-close look at Poe Dameron’s souped-up X-Wing, the Black One. Or Incom-FreiTek T-70, if we’re being all technical.
The latest update arrives via ComicBook.com, after the outlet relayed some comments made by Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) during the Fan Expo Canada this past weekend. It didn’t take long before the conversation veered toward The Last Jedi and when it did, Daniels touched on Leia’s enduring legacy. Indeed, as the December sequel will mark Carrie Fisher’s final Star Wars appearance, it will, in many ways, immortalize her Resistance leader, and that will only amplify the emotional impact in three months’ time.
Granted, director Rian Johnson recently allayed fears that The Last Jedi would kill off Fisher’s series stalwart; rather, his long-awaited blockbuster will write Leia out of the Skywalker saga once and for all. Best packing the tissues, then.

The magic of the movies is you will see her as you’ve never seen before. The other day when I was putting my voice back on [The Last Jedi], I had completely forgotten what we had shot. Suddenly in the footage that I’m watching, there she is, living forever. That’s movies for you.
