The countdown to December 15th has officially begun.
Two years after The Force Awakens, when J.J. Abrams and Co. resurrected a dormant giant, and we stand on the verge of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
It’s the crucial second chapter in Lucasfilm’s current trilogy, which goes some way to explaining why Rian Johnson’s sequel is already being compared to The Empire Strikes Back. Only this time around, it’s the First Order and Supreme Leader Snoke who will be staging a resurgence, and with our principal heroes (see: Rey, Finn and Poe) either injured or scattered across the galaxy, the Resistance will be up against it.
In an effort to preview that monumental clash, CBM has compiled what is perhaps the definitive gallery of hi-res images for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and we’re pleased to report that it’s relatively free of spoilers. As a matter of fact, if you’ve already happened across one of the sequel’s trailers, TV spots and/or clips, many of these HD pics will be pretty familiar. Even still, from General Hux and the First Order’s mighty arsenal all the way down to those bug-eyed porgs, it doesn’t get much better than this.
Like we said, it’s a pretty exhaustive preview of The Last Jedi, as the gallery above also includes a handful of behind-the-scenes shots of Rian Johnson and his crew pulling the strings. You’ll notice that the director is actually stationed on Ahch-To in today’s photos, which serves as a timely reminder that next month’s Star Wars sequel will pick up exactly where The Force Awakens left off.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is booked in for December 15th, and with Rian Johnson prepped and ready to launch the fourth Star Wars trilogy beyond Episode IX, fans can go into The Last Jedi with a sense of confidence.
