FN-2187 is about to get his own back on his former employer.
Erstwhile Stormtrooper Finn, who suffered a close brush with death during the closing moments of The Force Awakens, will be hoping to enact his revenge on the First Order when Star Wars: The Last Jedi steamrolls into theaters this December. And doesn’t John Boyega know all about it.
Taking to Twitter in the aftermath of last night’s big reveal, the Pacific Rim: Uprising actor drew attention to Finn’s imminent clash with Captain Phasma, and how it ought to please those Star Wars fans who have slaved under a “crappy” boss in years gone by. You’ve heard that revenge is a dish best served cold, but based on The Last Jedi‘s spectacular full trailer, Finn vs. Captain Phasma is shaping up to be a fiery, nail-biting duel that takes place towards the end of Rian Johnson’s hotly-anticipated sequel.
Chalk that up as conjecture for now, as it’s impossible to know for sure based on only two-and-a-half minutes of footage. One thing’s for sure though, with Rey seemingly skating the line between both sides of the Force, not to mention Luke Skywalker’s grave warnings, Star Wars: The Last Jedi looks set to deliver on the promise of a darker, character-driven sequel – just like Empire before it.
Granted, the comparisons stop there, as Rian Johnson has been quick to stress that his follow-up balances the familiar with the unfamiliar. Consider us on board.

Word is Finn will be joining Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) on a dark and dangerous mission in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, one that whisks them off on a quest from Canto Bight to the sun-scorched plains of Crait, which, as we learned late last night, are also home to a peculiar blue-eyed ice fox. Expect all of that and more to light up the silver screen on December 15th.
