Is it too much of a stretch to say that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the most-anticipated film of 2019?

After all, we’re now in a post-Endgame world, and with all due respect to Spider-Man: Far From Home, Joe and Anthony Russo’s star-studded epic was the main event – if anything, the next Peter Parker solo adventure is a fitting epilogue to Endgame. And while we fully expect The Lion King to light up box office charts this summer, there’s no denying that The Rise of Skywalker is a special movie in and of itself.

For one, it’s the ninth and final installment in Lucasfilm’s time-honored Skywalker saga, one in which Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are both expected to appear in some capacity or another. There’s also the small matter of the First Order and the remnants of the Resistance, the latter of whom must rise up against Kylo Ren and, presumably, Emperor Palpatine, who turned heads and raised eyebrows back in April with that signature cackle.

At the forefront of that rebellion is the galaxy’s most famous turncoat, FN-2187, better known to you, I and the Resistance as Finn. Below, he can be seen riding alongside Jannah (Naomi Ackie).

This image comes to us by way of John Boyega’s Twitter feed, though it’s really a screengrab from the recent Vanity Fair blowout. You’ll notice that Finn and his newfound ally are riding some form of space horses in this action shot, as they monitor some off-screen threat. Could it be the First Order mounting an attack? Or some new threat entirely? We’ll find out very soon indeed.

On December 20th, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens big. How big, exactly? Somewhere in the region of The Last Jedi ($1.3 billion), we imagine.
