New Star Wars Trilogy Will Continue To Focus On The Skywalker Family

Luke Vader

As of right now, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still very much a movie shrouded in secrecy. Disney and Lucasfilm have kept a lot of character names and plot details under wraps, with the surnames of Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) among the biggest mysteries. Is one of them a Skywalker? Is Kylo Ren? Whatever the answer, the focus of this new trilogy will most definitely remain on the Skywalker clan.

That was confirmed by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy in a recent interview, as she discussed the difference between the new Star Wars trilogy and the planned standalone movies.

“The Saga films focus on the Skywalker family saga. The stories follow a linear narrative that connects to the previous six film. ‘The Force Awakens’ follows ‘Return Of The Jedi’ and continues that generational story. The Anthology films offer opportunities to explore fresh characters, new storylines and a variety of genres inside the ‘Star Wars’ Universe.”

While there’s every chance Luke and Leia will continue to factor into these new Star Wars movies, you have to believe that a new member is going to be introduced through one of the young cast members. Rey seems like the most likely candidate, as the images we’ve seen of Finn holding a lightsaber feel like they could be a clever attempt at misdirection.
