We’re more than three years out from the arrival of Indiana Jones 5, but Disney is wasting no time in getting its action-adventure sequel off the ground.

Now, with Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg both locked, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that none other than David Koepp has been recruited to pen the screenplay. A frequent collaborator for Spielberg, Koepp has worked across The Lost World: Jurassic ParkWar of the Worlds and – whisper it – Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Truth be told, Koepp’s contribution to the most recent Indy flick was relatively minor, considering that Crystal Skull morphed into something of a Frankenscript thanks to creative input (read: chopping and changing) from George Lucas, Jeff Nathanson and, to a lesser degree, Frank Darabont.

For now, plot details are being locked away in a safe more secure than the ark of the covenant – all we know for sure is that Ford is on board to pick up the whip and fedora once more. Dual timelines would be the safest bet, particularly when you factor in that Ford himself will be 77 years young by the time Indy 5 drops in 2019. Could we be journeying back in time to explore the formative years of the wise-cracking treasure hunter, or will we be seeing more grouchy skullduggery in a few years’ time?

Indiana Jones 5 will welcome back Harrison Ford’s grizzled archaeologist to the fold when Disney’s long-rumored sequel finally makes its bow on July 19, 2019.
