From their choice of directors to the stars elected to anchor an ensemble cast, when constructing and indeed expanding the MCU, Marvel Studios tends to pride itself on favoring left-field choices – think former MMA star Dave Bautista stealing the show in Guardians of the Galaxy, or even Joe and Anthony Russo being plucked for The Winter Soldier following their stint on Community.
Fortune favors the brave, as the old saying goes, but could Marvel one day open up the door to Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler in time for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Chatting with People Magazine regarding the upcoming release of Happy Birthday, the music icon was quizzed about a possible foray into the movie industry, including which film or franchise would pique his curiosity.
Without hesitation, Tyler began lobbying for a part in the as-yet-unannounced Guardians 3. Are you listening, James Gunn?
“I hope [audiences] enjoy [Happy Birthday]. I know I did! It made me want to do more movies for sure, I would do anything to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 – are you listening James Gunn?”
Ever the one to shoehorn in a handful of cameos across its many features, it’s not too difficult to imagine Steven Tyler clinching a role – however small – in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 if and when Marvel green lights the spacefaring sequel. After all, Sylvester Stallone is part of the ensemble set to feature in 2017’s Guardians 2, which will have our ragtag crew wage war against a tentacled foe, daddy issues and much more.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will slam into theaters on May 5, 2017. But do you foresee a scenario when Steven Tyler will be rubbing shoulders with Star-Lord and Co.?
