Suicide Squad Credits Confirm Another Superhero Cameo

We’ve known for about a year now that Ben Affleck’s Batman will play a small role in Suicide Squad, but ever since the latest trailer (seen above) dropped this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, analytical fans and journalists have theorized that he won’t be the only member of the Justice League to make an appearance.

Well, it turns out that if you thought the lightning during one of the snippets involving Boomerang signified the presence of The Flash, you were right. According to credits included in a freshly released press kit, Ezra Miller has been confirmed to return as the Scarlet Speedster, having made his first onscreen appearance as the character earlier this year in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Given that the credits list characters in order of appearance, we may have been given a clue as to what his involvement is. Seeing as how both The Flash and Boomerang seemingly appear at relatively the same time, their shared scene could very well chronicle how Boomerang ended up in a cell at Belle Reve. He is, after all, one of The Flash’s most notorious Rogues and it only makes sense that that particular hero is the one to bring him in.

Considering that many of the characters featured in the film are Batman villains and he shares some screentime with Joker and Harley Quinn, it’s not a bad idea to give nods to a larger DC Extended Universe as long as the cameos take place in a very organic sense. If The Flash’s cameo does indeed occur in the way I theorized, it should feel much more natural than seeing him via an email attachment.

In addition to Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, among others. It opens in theaters on August 5.
