As we run up to the release date for Suicide Squad, the Warner Brothers marketing department has decided that we need to see a lot of the film, constantly. While there's been plenty of positivity surrounding this release - Jared Leto's sophomoric antics notwithstanding - I guess that you can never have enough images. As we run up to the release date for Suicide Squad, the Warner Brothers marketing department has decided that we need to see a lot of the film, constantly. While there’s been plenty of positivity surrounding this release – Jared Leto’s sophomoric antics notwithstanding – I guess that you can never have enough images. So, here we go with yet another batch of Suicide Squad photos, each one more badass than the last.

Suicide Squad takes place after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, with the government trying to figure out what to do if a bad kind of alien visits Earth. To that end, intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) decides to form a team of the meanest criminals and super-villains she can find, including Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and other equally nasty pieces of work to battle against a mystical baddie. They have to obey orders, though, or face the consequences from leader Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Katana (Fukuhara), and explosive devices implanted in their necks. The Joker (Jared Leto) is there to gum up the works as well, as he pursues his lovely girlfriend Harley.

While anything that takes place post-Batman V Superman is questionable, trailers and images from Suicide Squad make the film look like a lot more fun than its DC predecessors. The prospect of a bunch of villains saving the day is at least unique, and the all-star cast look great in their respective parts. I’m still a bit iffy on Leto, but we shall have to wait and see if his Joker really is all that. This latest batch of images, some of them behind-the-scenes, definitely add fuel to fire and for once, I might actually be excited about a DCU release.

Suicide Squad slams into theaters on August 5th, so prepare yourselves accordingly.
