Suicide Squad Now Tracking For $140 Million, New TV Spot Released

With the first wave of reviews for Suicide Squad set to drop tomorrow, analysts are starting to weigh in with their box office predictions. At first, many had pegged the film at a $115-125 million opening, which would be very impressive. Now, however, they've revised that to $140 million, which would make the DC Comics adaptation the highest August debut ever, and one of the biggest openings of 2016 so far.

With the first wave of reviews for Suicide Squad set to drop tomorrow, analysts are starting to weigh in with their box office predictions. At first, many had pegged the film at a $115-125 million opening, which would be very impressive. Now, however, they’ve revised that to $140 million, which would make the DC Comics adaptation the highest August debut ever, and one of the biggest openings of 2016 so far.

It’s looking likely now that the film will take down Deadpool‘s $132 million, but it’s still unlikely that it will dethrone Captain America: Civil War, which pulled in a tremendous $179 million.

Of course, Warner Bros. is likely most concerned about how it will do compared to Batman V Superman, which opened to $166 million. It doesn’t look like Suicide Squad will beat it, but it will, at the very least, earn more positive reviews – at least, we’re pretty sure it will.

Aside from the box office numbers, a new TV spot has debuted online as well. It doesn’t really offer up anything in terms of new footage (maybe a sliver here and there), but it’s still worth a watch if you’re anticipating David Ayer’s upcoming film. You can check it out above.

Suicide Squad opens in theatres this Friday, August 5th, and we’ll have our full review for you tomorrow night, so be sure to stay tuned!
