‘Superman: Legacy’ casting suggestion desperately holds onto the shreds of the SnyderVerse

It's time to let the SnyderVerse go.

Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League are an ambitious and unique trilogy of superhero movies, approaching DC’s heroes through a serious and operatic lens. We were pleased as punch to see the long campaign to release the Snyder Cut finally bear fruit in 2021, with that version objectively better than the terrible Joss Whedon dud and silencing the naysayers.

It’s now 2023, Snyder is busy working on Rebel Moon for Netflix, and James Gunn is forging ahead with a soft reboot of the DCU. It’s time to accept that even if the SnyderVerse isn’t quite dead, it’s having the last nails hammered into its coffin, and Warner Bros. will never restore it.

Of course, But some fans are still clinging to hope. Henry Cavill will not be reprising the role in Superman: Legacy, but what about Dylan Sprayberry, the actor who played the young Clark Kent in Man of Steel? Maybe he could be the new Superman?

Sadly, it sounds like this idea is dead in the water, though the reasons aren’t exactly fair.

Hey, if Tom Cruise can be an action star at 5’7 we don’t see why some camera trickery couldn’t solve this!

But it seems many DC fans think it’s just time to let the SnyderVerse go:

We can only concur. We’d have loved to have seen the crazy post-apocalyptic team from the final moments of Zack Snyder’s Justice League battling a corrupted Superman, but let’s face it, it ain’t gonna happen. Maybe one day that story can be resolved as a graphic novel or animated movie, but even if Snyder wanted to return to the DC universe (and he doesn’t), Gunn is moving forward with brand new plans.
