The second part of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, is almost here and moviegoers around the world will finally get the chance to re-group with Bilbo Baggins and co. as the gang continues on with their perilous journey to reclaim Erebor, their homeland, from the evil dragon Smaug. The stakes are higher, the danger more threatening and the adventure more thrilling. It’s a blockbuster of epic proportions and it improves upon its predecessor in almost every way.

Last week in Los Angeles, Warner Bros. rolled out the red carpet for the world premiere of the film and we were on hand to cover the event. Though we didn’t get the chance to speak with everyone (as it was an absolute madhouse there), we did get to catch up with star Martin Freeman, one of his co-stars, Manu Bennett, VFX supervisor Joe Letteri and Lord of the Rings‘ Sean Astin. We also captured some B-roll footage of some of the film’s other stars for you to feast your eyes on.

Let’s just say it was quite the premiere and you should definitely be excited for part two of Jackson’s epic trilogy. It will no doubt be one of the holiday movie season’s must see films and if you enjoyed The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, you will not be letdown by its sequel.

Check out our video footage from the premiere below and be sure to catch The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug when it hits theatres this Friday!
