Begin Again is an adventurous and heartwarming new film from director John Carney, whose wonderful indie, Once, not only took home an Academy Award for Best Original Song, but also inspired a Tony Award winning musical.
Set in New York City, Begin Again follows Greta (Keira Knightley), a misplaced Brit who uses her passion for music to cope with the unraveling of her relationship with a rising singer (Adam Levine). While playing for a less than impressed crowd one evening, she captures the attention of Dan, a hard-drinking A&R exec (Mark Ruffalo). After some persuading, Dan convinces her to let him produce her album, which they plan to record outdoors in various locations around the city.
Last week in NYC, the stars of Begin Again hit the red carpet for the premiere. We were lucky enough to be in attendance and while there we had the chance to catch up with Knightley, Ruffalo and more. They spoke about how their roles in the film relate to their real life careers, maintaining the balance between indies and blockbusters, amusing stories from the set and filming in NYC, among other things.
Check it out above and be sure to catch Begin Again as it’s now playing in theatres.
