Now that all the superhero movies for the year have been released, the focus can be shifted to the other big films coming out this summer, starting with The Bourne Legacy.

A couple new banners for the film were released today by Universal Pictures as promotion slowly kicks into overdrive. From everything we’ve seen so far,  Jeremy Renner looks ready to become the new star of the franchise and keep it alive as Matt Damon will not return.

Taking place five years after The Bourne Ultimatum, we get a new cast and a new hero, but the story is still affected by the events of the past three films. In the future, there is potential for Matt Damon to return and team up with Jeremy Renner, but any chance of that happening depends on how well this movie does. For now though, Renner seems entirely capable of running the franchise by himself and I’m sure the film will be a major hit.

Here’s the official synopsis, in case you’re unfamiliar with it.

“The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

The Bourne Legacy will have Renner join fellow newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn will all return.
