Christian Bale is currently making the rounds, promoting his new film The Fighter. While he’s generating serious Oscar buzz for the role, people seem to be more interested in his other upcoming film, The Dark Knight Rises. Of course he’s getting questions on the next Batman film and in a recent interview he revealed that this will be his last time playing the role.

“The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless Chris says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.”

While Nolan’s Batman series has always been seen as a trilogy, the amount of money that The Dark Knight Rises will make could have Warner Bros. persuading Nolan and Bale to continue the series.

Bale went onto talk about the secrecy surrounding the film:

“Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know. It just hasn’t been necessary yet. I know he’ll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I’ll discover it.”

So as expected, Bale isn’t offering up any new information, no surprise there. And despite all the speculation and rumors, if Nolan doesn’t confirm it, then we can never be sure of anything.

With the film going into production shortly, you can be sure we’ll be getting more info soon. We’ll keep you updated.
