‘The Flash’ speeds to a digital release after bombing bringing with it a whole new wave of ridicule

From terrible CGI to Ezra Miller, 'The Flash' had a lot of things going against it.

The Flash‘s reputation continues to flounder as it moves suspiciously quickly from the big screen and over to our TV screens. Now considered one of the worst superhero box office bombs in history, the Ezra Miller-starring adventure barely eked past its $200 million production budget and slumped humiliatingly onto digital this week just one month after its theatrical debut.

Unsurprisingly, The Flash‘s notorious CGI was a point of heavy focus from critics on Twitter. That includes a series of cameos from some actors who aren’t even alive anymore.

Another infamous scene involved The Flash putting a baby in a microwave because good taste is so last year.

One commentator even dared to compare The Flash unfavorably to “The Josstice League” of all things.

On the other hand, not everyone was an all-out hater, such as one fan of a brutal death scene in the movie.

And who can’t appreciate a director cameo from future Batman: The Brave and the Bold helmer Andy Muscheitti?

The film also garnered a lot of 7/10s from casual moviegoers on Twitter, with one commentator pointing out that your mileage may vary depending on your knowledge of the source material.

The YouTuber Quinton Reviews also noted how a possible misuse of budgeting, by creating the Parent Trap-like on-screen duplication of the two main characters portrayed by the same actor, could be a major source of The Flash‘s overall problems.

Inevitably, many people pointed to Miller as a source of contention due to their alleged crime spree in the past couple of years.

The postmortem for The Flash will likely be discussed for years to come. However, hopefully, the hands-on experience of DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn, who just came out with a well-received superhero movie of his own with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, can help steer the DC Universe in the right direction with future films.
