The Internet’s Going Crazy For Karen Gillan’s New Netflix Movie

If you live outside of the United States, Canada or the Nordic territories, then you're sh*t out of luck when it comes to watching Netflix's new actioner Gunpowder Milkshake from the comfort of your own home. Fortunately, though, the high concept story of a secret society of hired killers is hitting theaters across the world today, so 24 hours late is much better than never.

The broad strokes of the story bring to mind several classic action movies of the 21st Century, most notably John Wick and Kill Bill. A hitwoman finds herself tasked with protecting an 8 year-old girl from the mob, forcing her to reconnect with her estranged mother, who also happens to be in the killing-for-hire business. Putting their frosty relationship to one side, the duo embark on a perilous mission to exact revenge, teaming up with an esteemed trio of fellow underworld legends known as the Librarians.

Needless to say, the promise of recognizable stars getting their hands dirty in a string of kinetic and often gratuitously violent set pieces has been going down a storm with subscribers everywhere, as you can see from the reactions below.

There’s already been talk from production house StudioCanal that we could be getting a full-blown Gunpowder Milkshake franchise, and it’s clearly something the people want, when you can bet your bottom dollar that it’ll be comfortably nestled in the highest reaches of the Top 10 most-watched list before the day is out.

One potential drawback is that reviews have generally been mixed, but it’s not as if every multi-film series is subjected to universal critical acclaim, so that’s hardly going to nip plans for more Gunpowder Milkshake in the bud.
