More Suicide Squad images from the latest issue of Total Film magazine have found their way online this evening, and they offer up an intriguing look at several members of the impressive cast who will assemble in what’s set to be the first ever superhero movie that’s all about the supervillains.

Among the highlights in the gallery above is a new look at The Joker back when he was an inmate in Arkham Asylum and under the care of one Dr. Harleen Quinzel, someone we know he ends up transforming into Harley Quinn based on what the trailers and those involved with the movie have revealed over the past year or so.

Then there’s a new shot of Katana, and if you take a close look at the mist coming from her sword (better known to comic book fans as “Soultaker”), you’ll no doubt see some skulls, which is clear confirmation that magic is going to be a big part of the DC Films Universe.

There’s a lot riding on Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. after the mixed response to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice back in March, but everything we’ve seen from the David Ayer helmed release so far really does look great. It’s too soon to say whether or not it will live up to expectations, but fingers crossed they don’t drop the ball.

Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck, Suicide Squad is set to be released on August 5th, 2016.
