‘The Last of Us’ key player joining ‘Secret Invasion’ reshoots has Marvel lovers even more hyped

There's light at the end of the tunnel, it seems.

As if Marvel fans weren’t excited enough for Secret Invasion, the studio has added a little incentive by bringing Eben Bolter onboard. And if you’re not familiar with that name, you should be. The American-English cinematographer worked as director of photography on three of the most recent episodes of HBO’s successful series The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey and based on Naughty Dog’s PlayStation exclusive franchise of the same name. The episodes in question are “Long, Long Time,” “Please Hold to My Hand,” and “Endure and Survive.” He also worked as a cinematographer on Adam Randall’s vampire thriller film Night Teeth, starring Debby Ryan, Lucy Fry and Sydney Sweeney of Euphoria fame.

Recent talks have revealed that Eben Bolter has been added to the production crew working on Marvel’s Secret Invasion reshoots. Spearheaded by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, Secret Invasions is a miniseries coming to Disney Plus sometime during 2023. It will focus on various former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who are tasked with taking down a faction of shapeshifting aliens known as Skrulls, who have invaded Earth and all aspects of it.

This new information has sent Marvel fans into a frenzy, even if some are remaining cautiously optimistic for the future. After all, what with the recent disappointment that is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel can’t really afford to keep slipping up. Their reputation usually proceeds them, but as of recent years, the quality of their productions has diminished somewhat, so forgive a fair few fans if there’s some apprehension despite Bolter’s involvement. These are just reshoots, after all. Exciting as they are, they’re just reshoots.

There’s definitely a split in the fanbase as some believe that Secret Invasion will be Marvel’s next best groundbreaking project since Endgame, plus it seems that the trailer has generated a fair bit of hype. There’s some huge expectations coming from Marvel fans, however, who have been starved of decent content for a while now and are looking for something huge. In fact, many are even suggesting that Secret Invasion could be — and better be — Marvel’s own Andor.

Bolter’s addition to the crew certainly shakes thing up a little and provides us with a glimmer of hope that Marvel’s steamy pile won’t be smelling quite so foul anymore.
