The latest ‘Little Mermaid’ clip reinforces those ongoing ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ concerns

This is getting to be a big problem now...

We’re a little over two weeks away from Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid adaptation arriving in theaters, which continues to be a questionable decision that has left Mouse House fanatics completely split down the middle in their opinions. But perhaps the biggest issue surrounding the film relates to its dark, gritty tones that have left Disney stans feeling understandably deflated — especially if a newly-released clip from the upcoming movie is anything to go off of.

In the aforementioned clip, eagle-eyed viewers are awarded their first look at Princess Ariel and Prince Eric together. But as sweet as it is to see one of Disney’s most favored couples reunited once more, the dark color palette throughout the clip is a genuine concern that continues to skyrocket into discussions. Of course, this ongoing problem created unsurprising flashbacks for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever viewers several weeks ago, with many Disney Plus subscribers criticizing the film for appearing so dark. Of course, with Disney helming the majority of Marvel films in the modern-day universe, it’s becoming quite evident that perhaps the entertainment conglomerate is facing a serious issue with making movies that are far too dark and difficult to completely enjoy. That being said, the events in the upcoming film are meant to occur underwater, where it is often dark and results in a problem of not receiving enough light below the surface.

It might seem unfair to completely judge the movie before its official release in a few short weeks, but it’s hard to discount that there’s some obvious concern here in terms of viewing the film as brightly and as enjoyable as possible. For those interested, The Little Mermaid swims into theaters on May 26.
