20th Century Fox has today premiered the first-look teaser for Deadpool 2 and, well, let’s just say it’s not what we expected. But hang around after the Merc’s oddball, holiday-themed paint session and you’ll be able to catch some brand new footage from the 2018 sequel.

Right around the 1:30 mark, the so-called “Wet on Wet” promo cuts straight to the action, as we see Wade Wilson rising from the dead, a sharp-suited Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Julian Dennison’s fiery mutant, and Blind Al wielding a firearm (under the supervision of Deadpool, of course). And after that? Deadpool 2‘s first preview returns to the Merc’s uncanny impression of Bob Ross, as he stares in wonder at the sequel’s Thanksgiving poster before delivering a holiday message in typically hilarious fashion.

Heralding the return of Ryan Reynolds in the leather-red spandex suit, the David Leitch-directed sequel also features Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Stefan Kapicic and Karan Soni as the fan-favorite Dopinder. Fox has also added a slew of newcomers including Josh Brolin (Cable), Dennison, Atlanta‘s Zazie Beetz (Domino) and Eddie Marsan.

This ‘synopsis’ is really something, too:

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

“And remember, hugs not drugs.” The Merc With a Mouth will return in all of his irreverent glory when Deadpool 2 opens June 1st. It’s currently sandwiched between The New Mutants and Simon Kinberg’s Dark Phoenix movie, meaning 2018 will be a year to remember for X-Men fans.
